Abstract

This study, "Democracy in Crisis: Evaluating Contemporary Challenges to Democratic Governance," undertakes a critical examination of the multifaceted issues currently afflicting democratic systems worldwide. Through a combination of qualitative and quantitative methodologies, including case studies, statistical analysis, and expert interviews, the research investigates factors undermining democratic integrity and stability. Key areas of focus include the rise of populist movements, the influence of misinformation and digital manipulation, economic inequalities, erosion of civil liberties, and the polarization of political discourse. The study also evaluates the impact of external pressures such as global geopolitical shifts and transnational threats. Findings reveal that while democratic governance faces unprecedented challenges, there are also emerging frameworks and strategies through which resilience and adaptation can be fostered. This research aims to contribute to the discourse on sustaining democratic values in an era of rapid change and uncertainty, providing actionable insights for policymakers, scholars, and civil society advocates dedicated to safeguarding democracy.
